Miers: Cronyism Is, As Cronyism Does
Harriet Miers: “However, I am concerned that the confirmation process presents a burden for the White House and our staff that is not in the best interests of the country” […] “As you know, members of the Senate have indicated their intention to seek documents about my service in the White House in order to judge whether to support me….”In other words, they were going to actually dig into her past, and potentially Bush’s past because she was his legal council, and that might look bad for both of them…
Miers, for all her faults (and complete lack of qualifications for the SCOTUS), she’s loyal to the end.
