Pat Robertson ... the Radical Cleric?

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson has suggested that American agents assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to stop his country from becoming "a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism." (AP)

Roberts was quoted saying “"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," among other provocative comments Monday on the “700 Club”.

While this stance is not very surprising to hear from the conservative side of political thought; it is very disturbing to hear a religious and Christian leader actually ask for the murder of another nation’s leader. Geopolitical ideologies aside, the “700 Club” has long been an inspiration for Christians around the world, and to me there is no room for a leader in that organization to take an openly un-Christian stance towards the life of another human.

The real problem is that Pat Robertson is talking in a religious format, about political activities that deviate from the common moral standard. In this sense, his comments are more like something you hear at a radical Muslim Mosque than in a Christian News Magazine.
