North Korea and US at "Impasse" (read: fool me once, shame on you...)
BEIJING (AP) - The U.S. envoy on North Korea's nuclear program said Thursday he hoped to move beyond an impasse at arms talks after Washington rejected the North's demand for a nuclear reactor in exchange for abandoning its atomic bomb program.
Anyone surprised here? What this article seems to miss is that North Korea has had nuclear reactors for about 25 years, and the last one we gave them didn’t turn on a single light bulb. It has been used exclusively for weapons development. Oh, and the fact that to give them a new light water reactor would cost about 2-3 BILLION dollars. None of the other countries are stepping up to pay that bill either.
