On the Democratic Senatorial Campaign committee's (DSCC) website, Chuck Schumer had asked people to sign a petition to have the FEMA director fired. When you clicked on the link though, there was prominently displayed "Contribute to DSCC" right there with it.

"After an inquiry from the Associated Press, the DSCC quickly pulled down the page and said they would donate to charity any money raised by the anti-FEMA petition" (NYNewsday.com)

It has now been replaced. There is no more petition, just a page with a link to the Red Cross.

Until they realized that it would get some publicity, they were openly willing to use Katrina to raise funds for their political ambitions. The Democratic leadership keeps giving me reasons NOT to vote for them.
